I like the video demonstrations of the exercises and the selection of exercises but the application falls short.
Heres why:
If you want a custom workout you HAVE to select 10 exercises exactly. You cannot select 5 or 11. Why is this an issue?
Well, I tore my ACL, for the cardio workout I cannot do (or am afraid to do) any sort of jumping, or lateral motion. So I found 6 exercises I thought I could pull off. However, I cant create a workout with only those exercises. Big Fail in my book.
You cant advance to the next exercise. If you start a routine, and you find you want to jump ahead, you have to go back to select the next exercise, you cannot simply go to the next one while the routine is playing. This is a huge nuisance. Notably so when you want to quickly review which exercises are there. It would be much easier if you could rather than 1) go to Start from exercise 2) select exercise 3) view a few second 4) hit home button 5) hit start from exercise 6) select exercise 7) view a few seconds.. etc
ANother example is when you are doing the 10minute routine, and perhaps you can only do 30seconds of a particular exercise. Well, you have to wait that extra thirty seconds before the next exercise displays. In those instances as well, it would be very nice to be able to go to the next exercise directly.
I mean think about it. When you are playing music on your iPod and a song comes on you hate, do you have to go back to the album and select the next song? No, you simply advance to the next song using the >> control.
I would think these capabilities would be standard and including them would go a long way to making this a really nice application. If you wanted to make it really great, you would have the option to not only select any number of exercise but the duration of each.
The above points make the app not as flexible as you would think. and as a result I give it three stars.
